I have a theory about my proxy sites and adsense. This can probably work with similar sites where a random service is provided.
Lets say there’s a site online that allows you to edit photos. Google will be showing ads that pertain to editing photos. Sometimes bad stuff happens and a site stops working. Not to the extent of a 500 error right away but maybe a critical service has stopped allowing photos to be edited. The front page still works but people can’t log in, upload files, whatever.
So the user is sitting there, picking his nose, and trying to figure out what to do next since he just HAS to paste a picture of George Bush’s face on a monkey wearing a tutu.
But wait, there’s a Google Ad from Adsense that shows a competitors ad. And it says they can edit photos online. Awesome! *Click*
I know no one reads this but does anyone have real proof of this? The proxy that I run hits a MySQL database constantly for logging. (See a prev post for more info) and sometimes MySQL takes a shit. I don’t have anything setup for this yet to recover so users are unable to get through as well as they should. If it’s a bad day for my MySQL I notice that my clicks go up a little. This is a little specific and I don’t think that many proxy owners would have the same MySQL setup as mine but something similar can happen to any site.
Thoughts?
